Located approximately thirty miles northwest of Boston, Mass., the Littleton Electric Light Department is a progressive, growing, publicly-owned electric utility, established in 1912 to supply low-cost reliable energy to residents of the town of Littleton. In 1926, the Electric Light Department was granted the franchise rights to service the adjoining town of Boxborough.

Established in 1911, the Littleton Water Department has provided water service to Littleton residents for nearly 100  years and has received national recognition for its aggressive groundwater protection program.

In addition to providing economical power to ratepayers and clean water to Littleton residents, Littleton Electric Light and Water Departments are committed to assisting and improving both our community and our nation through a variety of programs ranging from senior citizen discounts to disaster relief.

Demographics

Electric: There are approximately 5,600 residential electric customers in Littleton and Boxborough. Business customers are divided up into: Small Nonresidential, 518 meters; Commercial/Industrial customers, 69 meters; and Large Commercial/Industrial, 11 meters. There are 53 meters for municipal buildings.

Water: There are approximately 2070 residential water customers in the town of Littleton. Of these, 41 are for multifamily dwellings. Business customers are divided into Nonresidential, 90 meters; Business, 62 meters; and Commercial/Industrial, 17 meters.

Directions

From 495 North or South: Take Exit 30 (Rts. 2A, 110) Turn left off the ramp.

From Rt. 2 East or West: Take Exit 40B (495 N) Take first exit, Exit 30 (Rts. 2A, 110) Turn left off the ramp, go over 495.

From Rts. 2A/110: Approximately 1-1/4 miles on the right is our Administration and Operations facilities. Park on the side of the brick building and enter through the double doors facing the roadway. If you pass a huge pile of gravel at Middlesex Materials, you have gone too far!
