Re-opening and Stagnant Water in Buildings

Many buildings in town have been closed due to the COVID pandemic.  As many of these buildings are due to be reopened shortly,  the MassDEP has provided some important guidance on addressing stagnant water in buildings as a result of the COVID shutdown. Click on the MassDEP links below for more details.

This information may be useful for Public Water Systems and large and
small facilities or homes on a public water system after buildings have
been shut down or used less frequently.

EPA and MassDEP recommend that building owners and managers take proactive steps to protect public health by minimizing water stagnation during closures and taking action to address building water quality prior to reopening.
